The mother of a Cochrane teen killed by a suspected drunk driver says she will attend all of the court appearances of the man accused of taking her son’s life.

Kim Thomas’ son, 17-year-old Brandon Thomas, was driving on Highway 22 just south of the town of Cochrane in the early evening of December 6, 2012.  Brandon’s car was struck head-on by a pickup truck heading southbound in the northbound lane.  Brandon, a Grade 11 student, was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

22-year-old Ryan Jordan Gibson faces six charges related to the crash including impaired driving.

Kim Thomas and a group of supporters wearing Brandon memorial shirts were on hand at the Cochrane Courthouse Thursday morning.

"We're here for Brandon, we're never going to forget him, and we miss him every day, and we want to see justice for Brandon," says Kim Thomas.

Gibson was scheduled to appear on Thursday, but neither Gibson nor his lawyer Alain Hepner, were in the courtroom.  A legal representative successfully requested Gibson’s next appearance be pushed to March 7, 2013.
