A new poll on Friday morning shows that the majority of Albertans support the legalization of marijuana in Canada.

The survey, conducted by Think HQ, says that 65 percent of Albertans think the substance should be legalized in the country.

22 percent of people are opposed while 13 percent are undecided.

It also asked if marijuana use was acceptable on the recommendation of a doctor and the result was 89 percent positive.

As for recreational use of pot, 55 percent of respondents were in favour of the idea.

More than 1,100 people were polled in the study.

Think HQ said those under 35, singles living in urban areas and those to the centre-left of the political spectrum were most in support of legalization.
