Police have charged a Calgary man with sexual assault in connection with two disturbing incidents in the city’s southeast.

On Tuesday July 10 at about 4:00 a.m., a woman was walking near 28 St. and 9 Ave. S.E., when she was approached by a man riding a bicycle.

When the man rode past her, he grabbed her breast, and then rode away.

The second incident happened on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at about 1:30 a.m.

Police say that a 21-year-old woman was approached by a man on a bicycle when she was walking in the 800 block of 32 Street S.E.

The man was naked from the waist down and circled her repeatedly on his bike before grabbing her arm.

The suspect rode away when the victim screamed.

Police ramped up patrols in the area after the incidents and arranged for additional officers and plainclothes members to keep an eye out for the suspect.

On Tuesday, August 7, officers found a man matching the suspect’s description near Radcliffe Drive S.E. and arrested him.

Glenn Stegemeier, 47, of Calgary, is charged with one count of sexual assault, one count of assault and one count of committing an indecent act in a public place.

Stegemeier made his first court appearance on Thursday morning.
