An unidentified woman was transported to hospital by ambulance with potentially life threatening injuries following a suspected attack with a broken bottle in the Beltline.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the intersection of 17 Ave. and 7 St. S.W., near Tompkins Park, following reports of a disturbance.

Officers located a woman bleeding profusely after suffering significant cuts to her neck. Witness reports indicated the victim had been stabbed by a woman brandishing a bottle.

An EMS crew transported the woman to hospital in serious, potentially life threatening condition.

A section of 17 Ave. S.W. was closed to pedestrian traffic following the incident. Police transported one woman to headquarters for questioning.
