Calgary police have arrested a 17-year old boy in connection with the death of a man who was found in a parking lot with apparent stab wounds.

Police were called to the 6300 block of Bowness Road NW at about 10:45 p.m. Monday for reports of a collapsed male.

Police say what started out as an argument, turned into a physical fight.

EMS rushed the 38-year-old man to hospital where he died.

Police says the accused and victim knew each other through a third party.

The police picked up the accused teenager at the scene and also found a knife.

Chad Lewis lives near the scene and says it was a bit surprising to see a number of emergency vehicles converge on the area.

“In my experience here, Bowness has been a safe place. There’s no fighting or not a lot of homelessness or drugs that I’ve noticed. It was really surprising to hear that happened so,” said Lewis.

Police say second-degree murder charges are pending against the 17-year-old.
