An EMS crew has transported a male patient to hospital following a Thursday afternoon collision involving a CTrain and a pedestrian in the downtown core.

According to EMS spokesperson Adam Loria, an ambulance was dispatched to 7 Ave. S.E., near City Hall, shortly after 5:00 p.m. following reports a person had been struck by a train.

Police say the pedestrian walked into the path of an oncoming train. The pedestrian, believed to be in his late teens, was transported to Foothills Hospital in critical, life threatening condition.

The emergency situation caused temporary delays on all LRT lines and shuttle buses transported passengers around the 7 Ave. closure.

Transit service has resumed.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
