The deaths of three young wolves is a serious blow to the Bow Valley wolf pack, which has already lost two other members recently.

The pups were killed at about 2:20 a.m. on Monday morning just west of the Sunshine exit on the CP line.

The incident follows the death of another wolf pup hit by a train just two weeks ago. That incident happened about 10 kilometres further west along the same line.

Back in June, wildlife officers had to shoot and kill a female member of the pack after she became too bold and began raiding campsites for food. She was not afraid of people at the Tunnel Mountain campground even when they tried to scare her off.

It is unclear how many members of the pack remain alive.
