Members of the High River RCMP detachment are investigating Friday morning’s armed carjacking at the Summerset Carwash in High River.

According to police, a 32-year-old man had entered the carwash at the corner of 5 St and 7 Ave to wash his boat shortly after 10:30 a.m. when he was approached by two men asking questions about his rig.

One of the suspects placed the boat owner in a headlock while a third man, armed with a gun, entered the carwash and demanded the keys to the victim’s pickup truck. The victim complied and one of the suspects drove the truck and boat from the area.

Sergeant Brent Hawker of the High River RCMP says the victim was not injured during the theft.

The other suspects are believed to have fled the scene in a charcoal coloured Ford F350 which may have black fender flares, and aftermarket chrome rims. The suspect truck is believed to be a 2008-2010 model.

The stolen boat was located a short time later in a nearby alley.

The stolen truck is described as a 2011 Blue Dodge 2500 quad cab pickup truck with chrome running boards, a tonneau cover and Alberta licence plate JAP 054.

RCMP believe four or five people were involved in the theft. The offenders are believed to be First Nations and the suspects ranged in height from 175 cm to 183 cm (5’9” to 6’).

Anyone with information about the theft or the location of the stolen truck is asked to contact the High River RCMP detachment, 403-652-2357, or Crime Stoppers
