A 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with last week’s hate-motivated vandalism at the Tuscany LRT station and police have arrested his suspected accomplice.

Miguel Lavergne, of no fixed address, faces six counts of public mischief after anti-refugee and anti-Syrian messages were spray painted throughout the Tuscany LRT station and on vehicles in the parking lot.

A second suspect remains in police custody where he awaits an appearance with a Justice of the Peace. The man, who cannot be identified as he has not been formally charged, will face six counts of public mischief.

The Crown is examining whether the offences warrant hate charges.

Lavergne is scheduled to appear in court on January 25, 2016.
