Calgary police say two men have been charged in a homicide that took place early Sunday morning in the southeast.

At about 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to an apartment building in the 200 block of 90 Avenue S.E.

When police arrived, they found a man’s body in front of the home.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, but police say the victim is Sutton Raymond Bowers, 33, of Calgary.

Two men, Bowers’ roommates, were arrested.

James Andrew Beaver, 51, and Brian John Lambert, 41, both of Calgary, have been charged with one count of manslaughter.

Officials released details about their investigation on Monday, saying that the three men were involved in some sort of altercation on Sunday night.

They believe the motive was an ongoing roommate dispute.

"I am not sure what the specifics are," said CPS Insp. Don Coleman on Monday. "There had been some type of roommate dispute that had been ongoing but I am not exactly sure of the details on that."

Coleman said that the victim and one of the men charged have a minor history with police, but the home had never been visited by officers before.

He says that the attack was likely a one-punch type scenario. "One person falls and hits their head. This situation is a bit different, but manslaughter is the charge."

Beaver and Lambert will appear in court on October 11.
