Instituform Canada officials confirm 40-year-old James Ladino, a resident of Edmonton, has succumbed to the head injuries he suffered at a workplace accident on Tuesday morning.

“We are very saddened by the loss of one of our employees," said Charles R. Gordeon, Aegion's President and CEO said in a released statement. "Insituform Canada is in the process of conducting a thorough internal investigation of the incident. The incident is also under active investigation by officials of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety and by local police. We are cooperating fully with those investigations and will know more when they are completed and the facts and circumstances are known."

On Tuesday morning, Ladino was working at a jobsite in the 100 block of Cranberry Square S.E. when, according to witness accounts, he was struck by a piece of machinery.

Ladino was transported to hospital by ambulance in critical, life threatening condition.

The injured man passed away in hospital on Wednesday.
