As police continue their investigation into the death of an injured man earlier this week, an autopsy has revealed the identity of the homicide victim.

34-year-old Ronald Elepano, of Calgary, succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Monday, December 15.

The Medical Examiner continues to investigate and the autopsy is ongoing.

On Monday morning at approximately 7:15 a.m., police responded to the 5300 block of 5 Ave. S.E.  in the community of Penbrooke Meadows, following the discovery of an injured man on the sidewalk. Police determined the man, later identified as Elepano, had been the victim of a stabbing attack.

Elepano was transported to hospital by ambulance in serious, life threatening condition. The 34-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the medical centre.

Police believe the attack was targeted and evidence suggests more than one suspect is responsible. A suspected motive has not been released.

Descriptions of the suspects are vague due, in part, to the time of day when the attack occurred.

Anyone who witnessed, or has information related to, the stabbing of Ronald Elepano, is asked to call the Calgary Police Service, 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers.
