Lethbridge police are looking for a local man charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 37-year-old woman on Wednesday.
Police were called to the 400 block of 5 Street South for reports of an assault at about 12:30 p.m.
The female victim was found with a group of friends and she was taken to hospital by EMS.
Cynthia Pearl Badarm, of Lethbridge, died later in hospital and witnesses reported to police that she was assaulted by a male acquaintance who left the area.
Police arrested a suspect a short distance away and he was originally charged him with assault and released.
An autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary determined that Badarm died from injuries sustained as a result of blunt force trauma.
Lucien Maurice Crane Chief, 40, of Lethbridge is now charged with second-degree murder and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
