Party planning is underway for the grand opening of the West LRT this weekend.

Community parties are being held on Saturday at all seven new stations between downtown and the end of the line at 69th Street S.W.

There will also be celebrations at the new Ernest Manning High School.

This leg of the LRT has been under construction for nearly two years. It's on time, and the city says it's also on budget.

The parties take place from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

Monday is the first day commuters will be able to ride west on the LRT line.
