More severe thunderstorm warnings as people clean up from a week of wet weather.

The warnings and watches are becoming almost routine, popping up every afternoon in advance of the downpour. But a few people got more than just a little wet.

A twister touched down eight kilometres northeast of Okotoks on Sunday afternoon, ripping the shingles off the roofs of two homes.

“I looked up the funnel cloud was over there and within about three minutes it had touched down, tore off a chunk of roof at the house over there, came and went right beside our house, went through their gate, ripped it open, picked up their trampoline, spit it into the barn and kept going that way,” said Marketa Luedtke.

The tornado also snapped a tree and threw a horse trough and a play structure.

Environment Canada says the tornado was on the ground for about five minutes, but they had many reports of funnel clouds.

In Calgary, there have been reports of flooding all week long as overtaxed storm drains fail to keep up with the deluge. People in the city were also bracing for the worst.

“It sounded like a train wreck, can feel house movement, windows were bulging and we can see the deck raising,” said Darlene Wipf, who hid in her basement as Sunday’s storm blew through.

There were tornado watches and thunderstorm warnings across the southern part of the province on Monday, with stormy weather expected to go well into the evening.
