Severe thunderstorms whipped across the city and parts of southern and central Alberta stopping motorists in their tracks and causing flash floods at intersections.
Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning on Thursday afternoon for Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Olds, Sundre, Brooks, Strathmore, Vulcan, Drumheller, Three Hills, Red Deer, Innisfail, Ponoka and Stettler.
A tornado warning was also issued by the weather agency for Mountain View County.
