Another blast of winter is heading our way.

A snowfall warning has been issued for the City of Calgary and communities throughout central and southern Alberta.

The warning includes the City of Calgary, Drumheller, Three Hills, Brooks, Strathmore, Vulcan, Medicine Hat, Bow Island, Suffield, Kananaskis, Canmore, Banff National Park, Airdrie, Cochrane, Olds and Sundre.

Environment Canada says heavy snow will begin falling Wednesday afternoon.

Ten to 20 centimeters of snow is expected by Thursday morning.

Plows were out early Wednesday morning clearing and salting the main routes in the city to assist with the commute.

The city says road crews are preparing for the expected snow.

If more than five centimeters of snow falls, the city may declare a city-wide snow route parking ban. For more information on the parking ban, click here.

Communities south of Okotoks are under a freezing rain warning.

The freezing rain is expected to begin falling Wednesday morning and may push as far north as the Trans Canada highway.
