Calgary police have released a description and images of a possible suspect wanted in connection to a weekend robbery at an Applewood area home.

Police were called to a home in the 400 block of Applewood Place S.E. at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday after receiving reports that a man had entered a residence through a window.

Investigators say the man went into the master bedroom, where a 49-year-old woman was sleeping, and started going through the dresser. The woman woke up and the suspect confronted her with a knife and demanded she hand over the bracelet on her wrist.

The woman complied and the suspect continued to search through the bureau and the bedroom before fleeing the home with her purse.

The suspect is described as:

  • Black
  • 165 to 173 cm or 5’5” to 5’8” tall
  • Wearing jeans and leather mid-calf style work boots
  • The lower half of his face was covered

Police have released two images of a man who is believed to be connected to the case.

Investigators say the man may have been on foot and they are asking anyone who might have CCTV in the area of Applewood Place to contact them. They are looking to see if someone may have captured images of the suspect between 1:00 and 3:00 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the robbery was random and likely based on a crime of opportunity.

With the warmer weather, Calgarians are reminded to remain vigilant about securing their homes at night.
