For the pasts two decades the Yellowstone to Yukon initiative (Y2Y) has worked to create a huge cross country wildlife corridor.

The Y2Y initiative has helped to expand national parks and championed projects such as the wolves being introduced to Yellowstone Park.

On its twentieth anniversary the group is celebrating its success, but at the same time accusing the Alberta Government of dragging its feet on protecting land and wildlife.

Karsten Heuer from Y2Y said “we've made next to no headway in terms of actually protecting our headwaters in terms of actually protecting our endangered species like grizzlies and caribou.”

The Alberta government denies those claims saying it has set aside hundreds of thousands of hectares of land in recent years and will meet its goal of protecting 17 per cent of Alberta land.
