A 19-year-old man is dead after a crash on the Trans-Canada Highway Thursday morning just west of the Highway 93 South Junction near Castle Mountain in Banff National Park.

A semi truck collided with another vehicle just after 9:00 am just west of Castle Junction on the non-twinned section of the Trans-Canada Highway

The second driver was rushed to Banff Springs Hospital with undetermined injuries.

Icy road conditions are believed to have been a factor in the crash.

No names have been released but police continue to investigate.

The Trans-Canada Highway was fully reopened just before 3:00 p.m

Road conditions throughout the mountain parks are rated from poor and good and motorists are advised to travel with caution and check road reports prior to departure.
