Calgary police say two deaths in a Penbrooke Meadows home on Sunday were a murder-suicide.

Police responded to the 300 block of Penswood Way S.E. around 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 29 for reports of a disturbance, according to a news release.

When officers arrived, they found two people dead. Police described the deaths at the time as "suspicious."

An autopsy was completed on Tuesday.

Police said on Wednesday the autopsy determined the deaths were a murder-suicide.

Police also said a child was present during the incident but was not harmed and is now "being cared for by family."

"This event is steeped in tragedy and has forever impacted the lives of a family," Acting Staff Sgt. Ken Carriere said in a release.

"Our condolences go out to the family and friends who have been impacted."

No further details will be released.
