'I nearly died': WestJet employee and Spice Girls superfan dances with Mel C

A WestJet employee's chance encounter on a recent flight spiced up her life in a big way.

Pam Nisbet, who is an 18-year veteran with the company, got to dance with Melanie C, one of the members of the Spice Girls, on a flight from Calgary to London.

"Mel C was a guest on our flight and graciously agreed to do the 'Stop' dance with me," Nisbet wrote in an email to CTV News.

"I nearly died. I am a huge fan!!"

A clip of the encounter, which was posted on TikTok, has been viewed more than 768,000 times.

"She was so lovely," Nisbet said.

Mel C performed on July 5 at the Big Four Roadhouse for the opening night of the Calgary Stampede.

Speaking with CTV News in person on Thursday, Nisbet explained that her daughter Brooklyn is a WestJet flight ambassador and had greeted Melanie C when she arrived in Calgary.

“I thought, 'Oh my goodness that would be the ultimate guest to have on our flight' and my daughter told me Melanie C was flying back to London Heathrow Airport with us on Sunday through WestJet as well,” said Nisbet.

“I looked at my schedule and said, ‘oh my god’ we’re on her flight!”

When Nisbet saw Melanie C on the plane, she couldn’t contain her excitement, explaining to Melanie C that her famous ‘Stop’ dance was a huge part of her life.

“It was surreal for me because I’ve done that dance in Hawaii, I've done it on top of the Empire State Building, we even went to Carnew Street in Dublin where it was filmed and did it there,” she said.

“I asked Melanie C if she wanted to dance with me, I said I’d be forever grateful and she said ‘absolutely let’s make sure to do it before we land!’ She was so lovely and to have her agree to do this was crazy, it was so fun!”

Little did she know that the video Nisbet had posted on her social media would explode with hundreds of thousands of views.

“I got up this morning and it's up over 700,000 views, like, this is insane!”

“But it just goes to show how well-liked she actually is too because everybody's posting about her and one of the commenters even thought I was Ginger Spice, an older Ginger Spice but that was a huge compliment.
