An unnamed 28-year-old woman has been charged with assault following an RCMP investigation into allegations a taxi driver had been attacked.

According to members of the Airdrie RCMP detachment, officers responded to an undisclosed location in the early hours of October 31 following reports a Checker Taxk diver had been assaulted by an intoxicated passenger.

Investigators say the passenger became beligerent and refused to exit the cab after the driver asked her to leave.

The incident was captured by a surveillance camera.

A 28-year-old woman from Airdrie was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on December 15, 2016.
