The cost of gasoline at select Shell stations in Calgary is making a sudden drop on Wednesday, hitting the price per litre enjoyed way back in 1984.

Throughout Alberta, drivers will be able to fill their tanks with the gas going at 39.9 cents per litre, but only for an hour and at select locations.

Shell officials say they made the move to celebrate 30 years of refining in Alberta.

The one-hour-long price drops will be continuing at a few other stations throughout the afternoon in the province.

The company will be tweeting their locations online shortly before the hour starts.
