Medicine Hat police have made an arrest in connection with the disappearance of a 23- year-old woman who was last heard from by friends on Monday.

Amy Lenora Lewis was last in contact with friends the evening of Monday, June 11, 2012 and was reported missing to police on Wednesday.

Stopanski is charged with one count of Accessory After the Fact to Murder and has been

remanded in custody.

Police have not located Lewis and strongly believe foul play is the cause of

her disappearance.

Investigators along with Medicine Hat Fire Service, Southeast Alberta Search and Rescue teams and the Helicopter Airlift Operations are searching an area around the South Saskatchewan River for evidence in connection with Lewis' disappearance.

Lewis lives in Medicine Hat and works in both Medicine Hat and Bow Island.

She is described as:

  • 23 years old
  • Caucasian
  • Brown hair
  • 168 cm or 5'6" tall
