CALGARY -- The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has been called in to investigate an in-custody death in southwest Calgary.

EMS was called to the 2400 block of Erlton Road S.W. about 6 a.m. to assist a man believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis.

Police said in a release the man became combative with paramedics and officers were called to assist.

"As the man was taken into custody, he experienced a medical crisis," read the release. "Paramedics assisted and transported the man to hospital where he was later declared deceased."

No other information is being released
