Members of the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team have located the body of a 28-year-old man who had been missing since Wednesday evening.

On July 30, the man jumped from the Laforme Creek Bridge into Revelstoke Lake but failed to resurface. Revelstoke RCMP and Revelstoke Search and Rescue combed the area for signs of the missing man but the search was postponed due to darkness.

On Thursday, RCMP returned to the area with a helicopter, a boat and members of the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team. The body of the missing swimmer was located and recovered from the lake.

Police have not released the identity of the 28-year-old man but have confirmed he was a resident of Coldstream, B.C., a community in the Okanagan Valley.

The British Columbia Coroner’s Service is investigating the death.
