NHL's number one draft pick got his start in hockey in Calgary.

Taylor Hall was born in Calgary and played for the Bantam Triple-A Canucks in 2004.

Hall was 13-years-old and his team won both Esso Minor Hockey Week and the city championships that year.

The following year, Hall moved to Ontario but his Calgary coach Kevin Willison says he was able to make a big impact before he left.

"He has a passion to play. He was very committed through the season. I saw him grow as a young man. He was very mature for his age."

Willison is a hockey coach at Edge School and still golfs with Hall every summer in Calgary.
