Conservative MP Michelle Rempel has been re-elected in the riding of Calgary Nose Hill.

Calgary Nose Hill is located in the city’s northwest starting at the intersection of Sarcee Trail NW and Stoney Trail NW and runs south of Stoney Trail to John Laurie Boulevard. It borders the airport to the west. The riding includes the neighbourhoods of Beddington Heights, Country Hills, Hamptons and Thorncliffe.

Candidates

Calgary Nose Hill has seen several boundary changes over the years but has consistently remained a Conservative stronghold. The area was represented by the Tories' Diane Ablonczy for seven straight elections but was won by Michelle Rempel when Ablonczy chose not to run again in 2015. Rempel won the seat with 60 per cent of the vote. Prior to that, Rempel was elected in 2011 to represent what was Calgary Centre-North and former Premier Jim Prentice’s old federal riding.

Under Stephen Harper’s leadership, Rempel became the youngest woman cabinet minister in history after being named Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification. Over the last four years she’s acted as the Official Opposition critic for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.
