The City of Calgary plans to celebrate the nation’s 147th birthday with a literal bang as a firework display will end a day of free activities for Calgarians of all ages.
Canada Day events on Tuesday, July 1 are scheduled to include:
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Canada Day at Fort Calgary
- Jump houses, pony rides, a petting zoo, live music and a free pancake breakfast. Outdoor events are free and admission to the Fort Calgary gallery is half price.
10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
First Nations Powwow at Prince’s Island Park
- A celebration of aboriginal culture including storytelling, music, dance, and ceremonial clothing
11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Stephen Avenue Walk Canada Day Street Party
- Live music, vendors, buskers and patios along the pedestrian boulevard, and family events at Olympic Plaza
4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Creation of a living Canada flag on Riverfront Ave (between 1 St. S.E. and Macleod Trail)
- The first 3,000 people will receive red or white shirts and placed in formation by volunteers to create a giant Canadian flag
4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Chinatown Night Market
5:00 p.m. -11:00 p.m.
Food Truck Roundup & BassBus in the Festival Market along the Eau Claire promenade
6:00 p.m. -11:00 p.m.
Live music on the Riverfront Stage (north lawn of the Harry Hays building)
Performances from Canadian musical acts including:

10:45 p.m.
Fireworks (Centre Street Bridge)
- A fireworks display along the banks of the Bow River synchronized to music on 101.5 Kool FM and 95.3 The Peak.
