A King County jury has found 51-year-old Michael Stanley guilty of rape in the second degree and burglary in the first degree in connection with a February 2015 attack on a 69-year-old woman in the victim's home in Seattle, Washington.

Stanley, formerly of Edmonton, faces a sentence of up to life in prison in connection with the conviction.

In 2013, the convicted sex offender triggered an international manhunt after removing his ankle bracelet in Lloydminster, on the Alberta/Saskatchewan border, and entering the United States unchallenged.

Stanley’s criminal history includes the raping of an 82-year-old woman in Lethbridge and sexually assaulting disabled children.
