David Urquhart, the husband of Ward 13 Councillor Diane Colley-Urquhart, has passed away unexpectedly.

David, 68, is survived by his wife Diane, their son Bruce and his wife Salina.

The family released a statement on Friday informing the public about his death.

“Diane, Bruce, and Salina sadly share the unexpected passing of our precious David and Dad. We cleared many health hurdles together over the past three years. The last few months challenged us more than ever as we had to overcome health complications we were sure had passed. David had an expansive professional and entrepreneurial career in the oil and gas industry both at home and abroad. His wonderful experiences with family and friends are too numerous to mention – we all treasured and valued every experience and moment together. Our beloved mom, Ali, brothers Michael and Matthew, Jim and Marie Colley, Dick (Fraternity Bro) and Wendy, and numerous other relatives and friends join us in our loss. With David’s deep love for the Maritimes, a private service with family and friends will be held in Nova Scotia.”

David Urquhart was a graduate of Dalhousie University in drilling engineering and led and started several oil and gas companies in the USA and Canada and abroad.

The Urquhart’s were married for 37 years.
