A young girl did not survive being struck by a pickup truck in the northwest neighbourhood of Bowness Friday night.
EMS Public Education Officer Stuart Brideaux says emergency crews responded to the intersection of 79 Street and 47 Avenue Northwest shortly after 8:00 p.m. following reports a young girl had been hit by a vehicle.
Paramedics located a four year old girl suffering from serious injuries. The girl succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck remained at the crash site. Police do not believe alcohol or speed contributed to the crash.
The Calgary Police Service traffic unit is leading the investigation into the fatal collision.
