**Correction: The Calgary Fire Department originally indicated the person who reported the missing dog was the dog's owner. The dog was with its walker at the time of the incident.**

Members of the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) aquatics team have been unable to locate a dog that fell into the icy water of the Bow River on Tuesday afternoon.

Carol Henke, CFD Public Information Officer, says the aquatics team was deployed at approximately 3:30 p.m. following a 911 call indicating a dog had run onto the ice and fallen through at a location near Shouldice Athletic Park in the city’s northwest.

Henke commends the person for not following the dog across the ice and potentially putting their own safety at risk. “It was absolutely the right thing to do.”

Despite the best efforts of the CFD members, there have been no reported sightings of the animal.

The dog's owner tells CTV that Ollie is a one-and-a-half year old Bernese Mountain Dog and is extremely friendly and playful. Ollie was with his dog walker when he ran onto the ice.

Anyone who may have seen Ollie or has taken the dog into their care is asked to contact CTV Calgary and his owner will be notified.
