Downtrending to flurries for Calgary today

Share

For this update, we're flipping the script. Calgary briefly popped up to 6 C early this afternoon, thanks to a strong burst of wind from the west, and a secondary band of heat from a warm front. Following those warm fronts, however, is usually a band of colder air - as of 2:51 MST, Calgary was back to -1, with wind out of the north at 50 km/h, and light snow has begun. This will severely hamper visibility while it persists.

Calgary is likely placed for 1-2 cm by the time we get this system out of our system.

Afterward, we get reprieve from the elements, for a time, instead pushing toward another line of fair conditions. We'll stay a touch below seasonal for a couple of days, before rising into a southwesterly jet Saturday, which will push us well above seasonal. The residual heat from that will help us out Sunday, with a slight shot for evening snow on a much cooler Monday.

Susan caught a lovely shot of the moon the other night – and, as an added bonus, that’s Venus a little higher in the sky, too!
