A senior was killed in a crash east of the Calgary airport on Monday.

Emergency crews were called to westbound Airport Trail (96 Avenue) N.E. and 68 Street (Cornerstone Drive) N.E. at 11 a.m. for a two-vehicle collision.

Police say a Mack 660 truck, driven by a man in his 40s, was westbound. At the same time, a Toyota RAV 4, driven by a man in his 70s, was southbound.

The Toyota proceeded from the stop sign into the path of the truck, with the front of that vehicle hitting the driver's side.

Officials say the Toyota driver was killed in the crash. No other injuries were reported.

The crash caused multiple road closures that lasted for several hours.

Anyone with information about the collision or dash-cam footage can call Calgary police at 403-266-1234.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
