The 4th Street Lilac Festival took place Sunday.

Tens of thousands of people bundled up to take in 13 city blocks of crafts and food vendors.

There were a record 600 exhibitors this year.

There were also several entertainment stages and street dancing.

Last year, 125,000 people attended the festival.

Vendors are still tallying up their sales, but say they were pleasantly surprised by the big turnout on such a cool, wet Sunday.

"This year is definitely a lot colder and so far there seems to be less traffic, but not that much less, considering how cold it is," said vendor Suzanne Boisse.

The Lilac Festival began about 20 years ago as a small community initiative when just one block was closed for the community craft sale.
