Friends of 23 year old Kallen Carothers want her killer to do the right thing and surrender.

Carothers was fatally shot around 11:15 Wednesday night at the intersection of 16 Avenue and 19 Street Northwest.

Calgary police describe it as a drive by shooting.

Carothers was driving but police believe there was a passenger in the car and that individual was also injured.

He’s still described as a witness by police and has not come forward.

Carothers’ parents released a public statement which says, “Our daughter was not a gang member, although she may have made a bad choice in friend relationships.”

She was studying to become a medical office assistant.

Her friends tell CTV News she was a loving person who would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.

They say her family deserves justice and has started a GoFundMe page to help the family with funeral expenses.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Calgary police.

Interim Chief of Police Paul Cook is expected to outline a plan against Calgary’s escalating gun violence later this week.
