An online grocery delivery service has launched its first back to school program to raise money to help kids in need get a healthy start back to school.

Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery, or SPUD, is an online grocery delivery service that brings local organic groceries right to its clients doors.

On Tuesday, SPUD announced that from September 1 – 15, it will be donating $5 for each customer that places an order of $70 or more to Brown Bagging For Calgary’s Kids.

"Our goal is to raise over $5,000 to help improve the quality of life and nutrition for as many kids as possible", says Peter Van Stolk, CEO, SPUD.ca. "There are a lot of children in our communities who start their school day without breakfast or go to school without a healthy lunch to eat; we wanted to help change that and get our customers involved too."

The BB4CK program works with Calgary schools to make and deliver free healthy lunches for kids who would otherwise go hungry.

The program provides about 2000 lunches to Calgary kids each day.
