Gunfire erupts in northwest Calgary; police say shooting was targeted

Calgary police are investigating after shots rang out in the northwest community of Nolan Hill on Nov. 6, 2024.

Police are investigating after a shooting in Calgary's northwest on Wednesday night.

It happened in the 200 block of Nolan Hill Drive N.W. around 9:30 p.m.

According to police, multiple 911 calls were made reporting a shooting, and when officers arrived at the scene, there was evidence of gunfire.

Two individuals struck by bullets had already driven themselves to hospital by that point.

Both victims were male and are in stable condition.

Police say investigation suggests this was a targeted incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

It's believed whoever was responsible for the shooting waited for the victims at the home and opened fire when they showed up.

The suspects fled in a white Mazda SUV, which was later located north of the city near Highway 566 and Panorama Road.

The suspects remain at large and investigation into the incident continues.

Descriptions of the suspects have not been determined, and police are looking to the public for help.

"We believe there are witnesses and people with information who have not yet spoken with police," said Staff Sgt. Ben Lawson.

"In investigations like this, we rely on community support to help us progress investigations, hold offenders accountable and ensure that our communities remain safe for everyone."
