A pedestrian has died in hospital after he was struck by a vehicle on 16th Avenue on Friday night.

Police say the man was crossing in the middle of the 4700 block of 16th Ave N.W. at about 10:00 p.m. when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

The impact of the crash knocked the man to the ground and he was rushed to Foothills Hospital in life threatening condition. He has since succumbed to his injuries.

A woman and her baby were in the vehicle that struck the man, but neither was hurt.

Police are not releasing the identification of the man until next of kin have been notified.

Police do not believe alcohol or speed were factors in the crash and are asking anyone with information to contact the Calgary Police Service Traffic Section at 403-567-4000.
