Police are hoping a Crime Stoppers reenactment will help produce new information in a home invasion that resulted in the assault of two seniors at a home in the Thorncliff area last year.

On December 18, 2015, two men forced their way into a home in the 6100 block of Buckthorn Road NW at about 5:00 a.m. and demanded jewelry and cash from the residents.

The suspects assaulted the elderly couple and then fled the scene.

The man and woman, in their 70s, were taken to hospital in stable condition.

Police say the suspects targeted certain items in the home and they believe the attack was not random.

“Just some of the things that they were asking for and looking for, seemed like they had knowledge of what was in the house,” said CPS Det. Steve Adair from the Calgary Police Service Robbery Unit. “We believe that the motivation was strictly financial gain, for what reason, we’re not sure.”

Investigators are looking for two suspects who fled the scene.

The first suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Late 20s
  • 188 cm or 6’2” tall
  • Slim build
  • Wearing a blue and white bandana across his face

The second suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Early 20s
  • 178 cm or 5’10” tall
  • Medium build
  • Wearing a bandana over his face

The daughter of the victims says her parents were severly affected by the events that day.

"Both my parents, in their 70s, were strong and very self-reliant people, now my father has a hard time walking and is weak. My mother, who has already had reconstructive surgery on her face is still waiting for surgery to hopefully repair the vision in her eye. They both are still traumatized, having nightmares and feel unsafe in their own home," said Ada.

Police are hoping that the reenactment will provide them with additional information and are asking anyone who knows anything about this incident, or the identity of the suspects, to contact them at 403-428-8787 or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
