A keeper at the Calgary Zoo was injured in an incident on Friday morning.

The keeper is seeking medical treatment but there is no information on the nature of the injury or how serious it may be.

Zoo officials will not confirm what kind of animal might be involved but did release a statement on their website saying:

"The Calgary Zoo confirms that a keeper was injured this morning during the normal course of their duties and is receiving medical treatment. At no time were any animals outside of their enclosure and the keeper was not in the enclosure. Out of respect for the individual involved and the personal nature of medical information, we can’t disclose the nature of the injury but it was not life threatening. As is always the case when any employee is injured on the job, the incident is being looked into and will be reviewed by management."
