Ralph Klein is predicting a Conservative majority when Canadians head to the polls on October 14th.

The former Alberta premier was participating in the Fraser Institute's fall cocktail series when he gave his opinions on Canadian politics and economic issues.

While he is still predicting a majority win for the Conservatives he admits the recent attack ads created by the party may cause more damage than good. "American style campaigning does not work in Canada. I feel the attack ads were used on me and it backfired and it backfired tremendously," says Klein.

In an uncharacteristic move since stepping down from politics, Klein also took aim at the Stelmach government.

He says the provincial Tories should do more to share the province's surplus with Albertans. He says Stelmach should offer rebate cheques like he did in his last term in office.
