It's every landlord's nightmare.
Ian Johnson says one day his rent cheque just stopped coming. He tried and tried to reach his tenant but when he returned to the townhouse he rented out, the tenant was gone, along with most of the furniture he supplied.
The home was a mess; there is what appears to be human waste all over the walls and floors of the master bedroom. That was confirmed by the housekeeper who showed up while we were filming -- she says the tenant owes her a thousand dollars too. The tenant was suffering a major illness and left used medical supplies behind.
Ian Johnson is left with the cleanup bill, and he wants to know what happened to what he says was thousands of dollars of beautiful furniture.
Johnson called police, but there's little they can do. His landlord's insurance doesn't cover deliberately caused damage.
