Police in Lethbridge have now positively identified a man who was the victim in the city’s first murder of 2013 as George Robert Span, 58.

On January 14, 2013, police responded to a report of a sudden death at a home in the 200 block of Stafford Bay North.

A friend of Span, who had been unable to reach him over the phone, went over to check on him and found his body inside the home.

An autopsy conducted on Thursday in Calgary confirmed that Span’s death was a homicide.

He was apparently stabbed to death.

Investigators have since finished at the scene and are now searching for suspects.

No charges have been laid so far and police are still looking for leads.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Kyle Meyers 403-330-5049, Sgt. Scott Woods 403-330-5066 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
