Police have seized electronic devices from a Lethbridge home in connection to a child sexual abuse investigation and a 37-year-old man is now facing multiple charges.

In September 2017, police were made aware of a report about a man allegedly engaging in online chats of a sexual nature with an underage girl.

Investigators with ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit believe nude photos were also exchanged and allege that the suspect lured the girl away from home to meet with him.

Police say the 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted when the two met up.

Gary Lippa was arrested in Lethbridge on February 22 and police confiscated a number of computers and electronic devices from his home.

Lippa is charged with:

  • Abduction
  • Three counts of child luring
  • Sexual assault
  • Sexual interference
  • Invitation to sexual touching
  • Making child pornography
  • Accessing child pornography
  • Possessing child pornography

He is scheduled to appear in court on March 9, 2018
