CTV News has obtained the first photo and statement from a freed journalist since she returned home.
Amanda Lindhout was released after being held hostage for 15 months in Somalia.
Thursday, she released a photo and a statement.
In her statement, she thanks everyone involved in her rescue and calls her fellow captive Nigel Brennan a "gentleman" who helped inspire her through her dark days.
