A man is under arrest after a botched carjacking in southwest Calgary.

Police caught the suspect in a dramatic takedown Tuesday morning.

A police dog tracked the man to a housing complex in the southwest, and that's where officers took him into custody.

Police say the incident began earlier near Sarcee Road and Richardson Way SW.

A man threatened a woman with a fake weapon and tried to carjack her vehicle.

She managed to drive away, but police got on the man's trail and caught him a short time later.

The 28-year old man is charged with one count of robbery.
