A 43-year-old Calgary man faces a manslaughter charge in connection to the stabbing death of another man in a Bridgeland home on Tuesday.

Police responded to a 911 hang up call from a residence in the 200 block of 11 St. N.E. at about 2:30 p.m. and found one man dead inside the home when they arrived.

The deceased man has been identified as Isaac Patrick Crowchild, 26, of Calgary.

A suspect was taken into police custody following a traffic stop in downtown Calgary on Wednesday.

43-year-old Robert Darrel Morrison faces one count of manslaughter and made his first court appearance on Thursday morning.

“They were acquaintances and we believe that this homicide is the result of an ongoing dispute between two individuals,” said CPS S/Sgt Doug Andrus.

Police will not comment on the nature of the dispute as the investigation is ongoing but they do say that the residence was known to them.

“The residence was known to police. We have approximately 11 calls for service to that residence this year and they’re mainly related to noise and party complaints from neighbours," said Andrus.

Investigators say the victim was a regular visitor at the residence and that they have interviewed several people who were also at the home that day.

“There were three people in the house in addition to the body when police arrived. One was transported to hospital on an unrelated medical issue. They have all been interviewed and are somewhat cooperative with police. There was a fourth individual who was located later on in the evening. That person was also interviewed and provided us with some information," said Andrus.

Police believe that another man was also involved and they are searching for him. “We believe that another person was involved and we are in the process of trying to identify that person and we believe that further charges will result.”
